Hello, I'm morriebird! (she/he)

I'm a self-taught artist who takes a lot of inspiration from early edition RPG books and comics like Prince Valiant and Conan the Barbarian. I primarily work digitally with a pencil-like brush reminiscent of my cheap BiC mechanical pencil from when I started on paper.

I live in the Pacific Northwest. My background includes environmental restoration, coding, technical writing, and instructional design.

Current Work

The Meanderings of Moreven the Mage

A comic I personally want made.

A low fantasy episodic story following Moreven, a traveling mage who aids people dealing with unusual problems.

My inspiration for this story comes from works like Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea, Garth Nix's Abhorsen Series, Jack Vance's Cugel's Saga, Yuki Urushibara's Mushishi, and George Miller's Mad Max.

Past Work

Faces of Orn

A collection of NPC illustrations by various artists. I created a character given the prompt "Thief."

A 7 page supplement written by Erwin-the-German offering 20 new artificats for The Electrum Archive. Created for TEA Jam 2025.

Sanctimonious Slimes vs Expired Epicures (SSVEE)

An adventure written by Nick LS Whelan (Papers and Pencils, Miscreated Creatures) brimming with dynamic factions and weird magic. Delve into the dungeon and face an ennui afflicted medusa, holier-than-thou slime people, and hedonistic skeletons!

I illustrated the cover and the majority of interior pieces.

I am reworking my price chart. To give a general idea of prices a single full-body black and white drawing would be $70. I do offer cheaper rates if buying in bulk so to speak. Such as if you want me to illustrate an entire book (including cover, complete interior art, and smaller flavor art) that could be about $400. I am also open to a "sharing the profit" payment system with no upfront payment. I welcome price negotiation.
